On Monday, the council chambers of the City of Auburn Hills is expected to be jammed with local residents to oppose the opening of a Planned Parenthood clinic in that city.
During the 7 p.m. meeting at 1827 N. Squirrel Rd., more than 10,000 signatures will be presented to Mayor James McDonald and City Council members.
The petition was sponsored by Citizens for a Pro-life Society, Central Oakland County Right to Life, Michigan Life Span and Stand to Oppose Planned Parenthood Abortion Racket in Auburn Hills (PPARIAH).
Since early December, Citizens for a Pro-life Society has held two strategy meetings in local churches and three large demonstrations in front of the building purchased by Planned Parenthood on Opdyke. Over 70 demonstrators attended the most recent picket on Feb. 14.
For one hour every day, protesters may be found outside of the building, sending a message against the clinic’s opening.
CPLS has researched legal options to at least prevent Planned Parenthood from offering abortions in their proposed facility. A legal challenge has already been initiated. CPLS is not able, at this time, to reveal the details of the possible lawsuit.
