Suspected dowry harassment forced two young women to commit suicide in as many incidents in a day.

Rekha, 19, was found hanging in her house in Lakshmidevinagar, Laggere, on Tuesday, when her husband, Rajesh Babu, a driver, returned home around 7 pm, the police said on Wednesday.

The couple was married in May last year.
Rekha’s parents arrived in the city from their residence at Alur in Hassan district, and lodged a complaint of harassment over dowry against Babu and his father.

Her parents reportedly told the police that she had told them of the harassment several times in the past.
